Cherry-red in the glass, Moppa Grenache is lifted by dark fruits, savoury nuances and warm spice — cinnamon, nutmeg and a touch of tarragon — for a complex profile that speaks clearly of its sub-region. Rich and powerful for Grenache, the fruit spectrum runs to black cherry and plum, gliding on a succulent natural acidity with oak kept to the background for texture and creaminess. Ripe, refined tannins provide a strong backbone, while five per cent Mataro adds bitter chocolate and smoked-meat complexity. A captivating wine that will improve with age.
