2022 Moppa Grenache
Black cherry, plum and baking spice — rich and powerful, with a savoury Mataro lift.
The pure expression of Moppa.
We're a family-run winery rooted in the Moppa district of the Barossa Valley, crafting wines that reflect one of the region's most character-rich pockets. After moving to the Barossa in 2006, I spent more than a decade as a red winemaker at Penfolds and gained international experience in China, Italy and the USA - skills and perspective that now shape every wine we make. In 2018 we purchased our Moppa vineyard, and from the 2019 vintage onward we've focused on wines that speak clearly of this sub-region. Our portfolio is built around two tiers. Our Single Vineyard Shiraz and Grenache come exclusively from our estate, with fruit from our oldest block planted in the early 1900s - showcasing the depth, purity and power Moppa is known for. Our Moppa range brings together fruit from our vineyard and trusted neighbours: vibrant Shiraz, Grenache, GSM, Saperavi and Nero d'Avola. The results speak for themselves - our 2022 Single Vineyard Shiraz won seven trophies at the 2024 Barossa Wine Show, including Best Shiraz, Best Single Vineyard Wine and Best Wine of Show.
