The idea for Teusner was hatched at the pub, rescuing old-vine Grenache that growers were about to rip out. That first wine was called Joshua. The blend stays true to form: Grenache and Mataro from old vines at Ebenezer, Williamstown, Seppeltsfield and Tanunda, lifted by a splash of Shiraz from 20-year-old vines. Fragrant red and dark berried fruits, cured meats and spice lead into a palate brimming with savoury, gamey flavour. Kept well away from oak and released young — best alongside a plate of the finest Barossan smallgoods.
